Two Extraordinary Substellar Binaries at the T/Y Transition and the Y-Band Fluxes of the Coolest Brown Dwarfs
Keckのレーザーガイドスターでlate-TにY dwarfが付随したものと、T9.5が付随した連星を発見した。Y dwarfの候補ががこれまでいくつかみつかってきたが、それらはY-Jで急に青くなっているように見える。これはこの温度では星大気中のカリウムの減少が原因で、それによりfar-red opticalの波長のopacityを下げるため相対的に青くなっていると考えられる。
